Top 4 Things to Do + Best Resort in Whistler Canada

Our first trip of 2020! Dan had a work trip out in Seattle the week before MLK weekend, so we decided to use the last bit of Marriott Bonvoy points I had and booked a weekend trip to Whistler Canada! It was magical, relaxing and adventurous and I cannot wait to go back and visit again next winter season. It's a perfect skiing and snowboard spot. Here are our top 4 things to do, and where we stayed during our trip!

1. Ski on both Whistler Blackcomb mountains

Whistler and Blackcomb mountains have come together, and you're able to ski both mountains under one ski pass! Both mountains are awesome, and are perfect for different experiences levels. If you are a newer skier and/or not as confident skiing, Whistler Mountain had more trail options for Blue runs. If you are an experienced skier and want less skiers on trails, Blackcomb is a great option! Best part about both mountains, you can go peak to peak, literally. WhistlerBlackcomb has a gondola that travels peak to peak, making it easy to go down both mountains (rather than skiing all the way down to get from mountain to mountain).

2. Eat at Christine's on Blackcomb

Perfect spot if you want to dodge unhealthy cafeteria food, Christine's is a full-service dining experience with beautiful views of the mountain, awesome food and easy ski on ski off access! All the food items we got had amazing tastes - we ordered a flight of white and red wine for drinks. Then, I ordered the Fried Chicken (with Szechuan honey, pickled shiitake, radish, avocado, rich, cashew) and Dan ordered the Braised Pork Cheek (with a red wine sauce, cauliflower puree, carrot, brussel sprouts, salsify, shallots and parsnip shallots). Both were SO GOOD, and we would recommend ordering both and spliting.

3. Walk around Whistler Village

After the mountain closes between 3-4 pm, drop off your skis and explore the shops and restaurants! Whistler Village looks most magical later in the day because all the "twinkle lights" glow through the fresh snow fall. I wish I could walk though the town again because it really did feel magical.

4. Visit the Spa

Relax the muscles and check out the spa's all around Whistler. If you are looking for something budget friendly (like us), most hotels have their own spa and you can go use their outdoor pools and hot tubs! Our hotel, the Whistler Westin Resort & Spa, had their own indoor/outdoor pool!

WHERE WE STAYED

For a weekend getaway, I was able to use my Marriott Bonvoy points to stay at the Westin Whistler, located right at the bottom of Whistler Blackcomb mountain. The value was DEFINITELY worth it. We were able to walk right out of the hotel, pick up our ski rentals and walk right onto the gondola and chair lifts for Whistler Blackcomb Mountains. Then, once we were done skiing for the day, we could walk right back into our hotel. It was awesome not needing to take any shuttles or drive to the mountain! Great way to save on parking.

Our room was cozy too! I am a huge fan of fire places, and absolutely loved having one in our little suite. The suite included mountain views, spa views, a kitchen and a separate space for the bedroom. The next time we come back to Whistler, we will 100% be staying at this hotel again.
