How To Be Creative When You're Stuck At Home - Part 1

Who else hates being stuck at home?? I know I do.

Since going into isolation to stay safe from the medical harm of COVID-19, it has been difficult to write on my blog. There are bigger problems in the world to be aware of than me sharing a trend I am currently loving! Instagram has not felt like the right place to post either because all my archived photos misrepresent what my life looks like right now. Many bloggers have expressed similar thoughts, but it’s true. Living in New York, my life has turned upside down. So I decided to write a blog post about what I am currently up to... finding ways to stay creative and positive.

If you’re bored, stressed, or looking for something creative to do...here is what I've been up to!

DIY Fashion

I have been going through my clothes and altering them to create new pieces! Easy projects to do are:

  • Jean Jacket (cut the bottom of the jacket off for another distressed look)

  • Jean Pants (cut the pants bottoms off to create a distress look - I did 2 inches above the hem)

  • Tie-Dye Sweatshirts or T-Shirts (check out how I created pastel tie-dye)

  • The brand Tulip is my favorite tie-dye brand to use when creating pieces! It's on sale right now at Amazon!

Create a Blog

Do you have a creative hobby you want to share with the world? I created my blog almost 3 years ago, and it's one of the best decisions I have ever made! Learning how to create a website was easier than I thought. Everyday I learn more about website analytics and improve my story-telling skills through photography and writing. Currently, I host my site on GoDaddy and designed my blog posts on Wix.

There can never be too many bloggers, so take a leap if you've always dreamed of becoming one! I've been spending this time to improve my website's layout, organization and branding.

Create Funny Videos

Last week, I downloaded an app called TikTok! It's a social media platform used to share bite-size videos of anything! Once you download it, it's slightly addicting. I have found myself watching numerous hours worth of videos....from short dances to comedy skits. Then, I decided to start creating my own videos! It has been so fun and easy to make! I have posted videos of me dancing, make-up tutorials and funny videos with my Cousin and Grandmother. If you want to check out my TikTok videos, my username is @themodernsocialite.

Try a New Make Up Look

Since I haven't been able to leave the house, it's a perfect time to experiment and try out different make up looks. I have been following a face contour tutorial on the Sephora app, and definitely see my skills improving!

Search Pinterest
